InSide OutSiDe

                 Adelaide Bus Station, 2017

InSide OutSiDe is about balancing extremes - trying to find that desirable section between too much and not enough. It is a subjective stream of consciousness located among community and life in Adelaide and the South Coast, driving back and forth for Adelaide to Goolwa 2 times a week. When I’m in town I get a bit excited, wanting to do lots, party, see people - meanwhile when I’m down south I usually relax, go surfing, drink tea and hang out with family. I try to get the best of both worlds while not getting caught up in small town gossip or the erratic pace of being in the city. The drive is somewhat meditative for me - it offers time to zone out and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

InSide OutSiDe is a documentation of my movements during Sept/Oct 2017. It shows who is close to me and gives a little insight into their homes. InSide OutSiDe was a spare of the moment idea to get some art out there before taking off to Indonesia for a year. Illustrations of interiors with felt-tip markers where digitised and projected on to an outside public space. The location remained disclosed until a few days out.

InSide OutSiDe was about being accessible, for me and the public. Due to the renegade nature of the show there has been no need to gain acceptance or access. The show has been totally self-funded. Dumpster dive catering was provided to allow for minimum waste.

The show was presented for people not aware or never given the opportunity to view art - as much as I enjoy art galleries, they are very exclusive, work is only affordable to the rich, they preach to the already converted and it involves being ‘in the scene’.

Here is some images from the opening and a selection of the artworks. InSide OutSiDe zine is available for purchase to view full works.
